DB Developer (remote position)

The position is based anywhere in the country and the job holder will work for a North American company. This is a full time position. The job holder will be working from home (the company might arrange office as well) and should be using own computer and internet connection. The working hours are during the normal business hours as per the EST time zone (15:00 until 24:00 CET). Roles and Responsibilities: • Understand the business, functional and technical specifications to develop software that meets the needs of the company and customers. • Make recommendations to the business analyst and architect on the technical and functional product design. • Perform analysis, design and development solutions. • Collaborate with other developers and architects to integrate the persistence layer with the backend services. • Produce unit testing and integration. • Work with testers to develop and execute test plans and to select and implement test automation tools. • Provide a report on the progress of the tasks assigned to their manager on a regular basis. • Contribute to improving best practices in development and the software development lifecycle processes. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant • Minimum of three (3) years experience in software development for interfacing with databases (Oracle ETL or other DB) using Java technology. • Knowledge in Performance and 'Tuning' DB • Knowledge of methodologies and tools for the analysis, design, development and testing java application. • Experience in development of backend services (J2EE and EJB) is considered an asset. • XML, XSD, XQuery • SQL, JDBC, JPA (Hibernate) • Oracle DB or other • Java • Platform J2EE (including Java patterns, Java Security, JMS, JNDI) • Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) • JBoss • Apache.org (good knowledge of various open source projects related to Java world) • Maven • Eclipse Development Environment • SVN • JIRA and Confluence • Windows / Linux / Unix • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication: English mandatory and French an asset If you are interested, please send your CV in English (.doc(x) or .odt format) along with salary expectations and Skype ID to: marco(at)distantjob.com .
